Author’s message for the readers:

When I was in kindergarten, there was a girl in my class who was Chinese. A kid in the class made fun of her for the way she pronounced some words. I stood up for her, and we became best friends during that year.

I want to teach kids the importance of being willing to be friends with all kinds of people, even if they are different from you.
